The Directory is a listing of resources of interest to residents, businesses, and visitors of Bangor, Maine. The directory is arranged by subject - from broad to specific. As more local businesses are added we may add new categories, so we may move you at some point into a more specific category. The directory is maintained by volunteer editors who evaluate listings for inclusion in the directory. Adding your business is easy. Please read on to learn how.

We care a great deal about the quality of our directory.  We're not a search engine and pride ourselves on being a bit selective.  Our goal is to make the directory as useful as possible visitors.

Step One

To add a listing you must register.  The registration link is on the front page of the site.  Registration is free.  Once you've registered, we'll immediately send you an email with a link to confirm your registration.  Once you have confirmed your registration, log in to the website listing using the Login link at the top of the site.

Note:  We hate spam just as much as you.  We won't use your email address to send you junk that you don't want, nor will we give you email address to anyone else without your permission.  However, if you choose to list your email address in your public business directory listing, others will likely use it.

Step Two

Once logged into the website, do a quick search at the listings in the directory to make sure you're not already listed. We have added many local listings already so please check.

NOTE: If you are already listed you may be able to CLAIM the listing using the CLAIM link in the listing details. To CLAIM: Click on your listing. It will take you to the next page of details where you'll see a CLAIM link. Click on the claim link and send us a quick note that you'd like to claim your listing. Once we approve it it's all yours to edit, own, manage, etc.  If your listing is NOT already on the site proceed to the next step.

Step Three

Identify the single best category for your listing by navigating through the directory from the Home Page. The directory has an array of subjects to choose from. You should submit a listing to the single most relevant category. We may add you to other categories or not add you to all the categories which you choose.  (that's why we are called "editors".)

Step Four

Once you've navigated to the best category for your listing, click the "Add your listing to this category" link and fill out the Add Listing form.

Descriptions should describe your business concisely and accurately.  They should not be too-too overtly promotional in nature, but a little artistic effort does always appeal.  Please be aware that submitting a absurdly promotional description rather than an objective, well written one may result in editing or rejection of your listing.

Once the form is filled out, click the Submit button.

After Your Listing is Submitted

A editor will review your submission to determine whether to include it in the directory.  Depending on factors such as the volume of submissions, it may take a few hours to a few days or more before your submission is reviewed.  Please only submit a listing to the directory once.

You will receive an email stating whether or not your listing was accepted for inclusion.  All submitted local businesses have been included so far.
